4TH SUNDAY OF LENT

The blind man in today’s Gospel was willing to let Jesus minister to him and willingly did all Jesus asked of him. The Pharisees were more resistant to His message, spending their time and energy to disprove the miracle. Which am I more like, the man born blind or the Pharisees? .

Giving Generously ~ Receiving Gratefully.GIVING GENEROUSLY
RECEIVING GRATEFULLY

The Stewardship message in the parable of the Prodigal Son is that it is never too late to become a good steward. Blessed is the elder brother who had been a good steward all along, but blessed, too, is the prodigal who had to lose all he had in order to understand the value of what he’d been given.

From the Pastor

We welcome Mr. Daniel Norris who joined us this week as full-time Property Manager for St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s Parishes. Mr. Norris comes to us after many years experience with the Halifax Regional Municipality as Manager of the Heritage Property Program and the Heritage and Culture Unit. That experience should serve us well as we strive to exercise a wise stewardship of the historic buildings of both parishes. Dan will be responsible for maintaining and developing the potential of all the properties, and will assist us in the development of new ways of accessing resources. He is a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Dartmouth where he resides with his wife, and is a member of their Parish Council. We welcome Dan to St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s, and we pray that his work among us will be to the benefit of both our communities.

Mr. Norris’s arrival coincides with the departure of Mr. Ron Beed who has been Administrative Manager of St. Patrick’s since January 2006. We are very grateful to Ron for the generosity of his time, experience and talent in the service of the parish. His work has enabled us to deal with the many pressing issues that faced the parish and leaves us in a much better position to face the future. After Easter we will be having a more formal occasion to express our thanks to Ron.
