Saint Patrick's Parish Bulletin
February 4th, 2007 ~ 5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
A common thread throughout the Bible is that of stories of people who had an understanding of God's call and mission. Through our baptism we receive new life in Christ, and are given the call and mission to live as His disciples. The gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Eucharist, and daily Prayer strengthen us to live out this call and mission. Today's first reading tells us of Isaiah's response to God's call:
"Here I am, send me."
Paul reminds us to be true to the Gospel for though it we are saved. Will we accept Jesus' call and follow Him?

Jeremiah 17:5-8 "Blessed are those who trust in the Lord."

PLEASE NOTE
- Mary Ogaa, head of Stewardship in the parish, is at the Stewardship Table each Sunday after mass. Please be sure to take a look at what she has to offer.
- COMMUNION PYXES. We now have a number of pyxes in a basket in the sacristy. If a "homebound" loved one requires communion, you can borrow a pyx and return it when you no longer need it.
- Our appreciation and gratitude goes to our AFRICAN COMMUNITY MEMBERS for their contribution to our musical prayer and praise. It is not easy to synchronize work and family schedules for practices and for leading us in song. We regret that you have lost important members, however, we look forward to welcoming new ones!

If you are an adult or a youth who has made First Communion, you could offer your
talents to God and to our Parish as an Altar Server. We need you!
MEETINGS:
OUTREACH COMMITTEE Monday, February 19 (7:30 pm) at the Convent. The Committee will discuss possible projects for the winter/spring. ALL INTERESTED PARISHIONERS WELCOME!

FIRST COMMUNION GROUP will begin to meet immediately following Mass on February 18. Meetings will last 20 to 30 minutes for several weeks, and will be directed by Deacon Paul in the Children's Liturgy room. For more information, please speak to Jo-Ann MacNeil.
Parishioners are reminded that Deacon Paul Carnell is available throughout the week for pastoral counseling, conversation and visitation. He has an extensive background as a Social Worker and Counselor, and we are very fortunate to have the benefit of his experience. If you would like to meet with him, simply speak with Deacon Paul before or after Mass or leave a message with
Betty Vaughan at the office 429-1300.
Please note that Deacon Paul will be away from the parish on both Sunday, February 4 and Sunday, February 11.

In today's readings, both Isaiah and Peter hear the call of God and feel themselves unworthy. But, reassured by the Lord, both answer and follow.
Do I hear the Lord asking, "Whom shall I send?"
Am I prepared to answer "Here I am. Send me !"
