FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
Lent is a time to grow in holiness and virtue.
Lent is a time to set in place those practices, prayers, and penances that will make this a sacred time. By Easter we want to be better members of Christ’s Church than we are today. Hopefully, many of these practices will not end, but will lead us to become people of greater virtue. |

OUTREACH to Pendleton Place
During a visit to Pendleton Place, Director Melissa Phillips identified some items that would be helpful to the women and men who use their shelter. Clean winter coats, mittens, gloves and scarves are all appreciated during these cold days! So, too, are personal care items for women and men such as: soap, toothbrushes/toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, deodorant — easy items to pick up at Dollar Store, Zellers or Wal-Mart. There is a Lenten box at the back of the church to drop your items that will surely be brought to the shelter. Lent is an appropriate time to share, even in a small way. Thank you! ……Deacon Paul.
Did you receive a brochure of the SCHEDULE OF LENTEN, HOLY WEEK, and EASTER SERVICES attached to your bulletin last week? If not, please pick one up at the back of the church. ALSO please pick up a brochure of the PRAYERS FOR THE WEEKS OF LENT at the back of the Church if you did not get one attached to your bulletin this week.
Please consult Saint Patrick’s website (at the top of this bulletin) and follow the link to the Calendar of Upcoming Events and Special Announcements. On the website, you will also find our Sunday bulletins, and a link to the CCCB website, which offers individuals, families and parish communities a diverse collection of printed and web resources to help enhance and celebrate the season of Lent and Easter.
GIVING GENEROUSLY
RECEIVING GRATEFULLY
Today’s first reading describes the offering of first fruits the people of Israel were to present to the Lord in thanksgiving for their deliverance from Egypt and the gift of the promised land.
Is my offering at today’s Mass an appropriate response to the many blessings the Lord has given me?
DEVELOPMENT and PEACE was the first international development agency to come to our assistance in 1998. Thanks to the financial support of the Canadian public, we were able to provide food, medicine, clothing and other vital services that are essential in such a crisis.
To help us celebrate our 40th anniversary, please Share Lent.
There will be a collection on March 25th.
