The Seventh Annual Restoration Dinner was held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax. A Reception was held at 6:00pm, with Dinner at 7:30pm. Single Tickets were $100, and a Table was $1000 for 10 tickets. Besides a chance to meet friends and supporters of St. Patrick's, it was great fun. The Dinner Flyer we produced provided an easy reminder which could be taped onto the fridge.
The dinner was preceded by a Silent Auction, and followed by a Live Auction. This year, we had musical accompaniment in the dining room as we gathered for the meal, during the meal, and after the auction. Brian Cable, of "Frankie's Club", and Patsy Roach played in the dining room. It was some great music for the gathering.
This year we honoured Frank Arab, and inducted him into our "Hall of Honour". A well-known musician in Halifax, Mr. Arab died in 2011. As an altar boy, Saint Patrick’s was Frank's neighborhood Church along with many other Lebanese families who had settled in Halifax in the pre-war and early post-war years. Over the years, Frank maintained his connection with the Church, and in 2007 when the Archdiocese of Halifax announced the closure of Saint Patrick’s, he became a charter member of the Restoration Society, and a major supporter thereafter. The many Catholic Services, luncheons, dances, and even a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, where he offered his musical talent, all contributed greatly to the sustainability of this beautiful Church. Have a look at the letter of invitation from his son, Greg Arab.
